Continue to Fight, Continue to persevere, continue to press on
july 18, 2014
As governments and pundits try to investigate and analyze the cause of the demise of flight MH17 in the Ukraine, one glaring fact is left out of the all the noise: the loss. The loss of the nearly 300 mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The loss of 108 people whose life’s work was dedicated to the understanding and eradication of the disease and stigma of HIV and AIDS. The loss of lives that mattered to thousands of people around this planet. What do you say in the face of such tragedy? What words can calm and comfort in the aftermath of such devastation?
We at the Canadian Treatment Action Council would like to send our thoughts and prayers to all our brothers and sisters around the globe reeling from this awful news. We extend our goodwill to all those participating in the AIDS 2014 Conference in Melbourne, Australia and we ask that each and every one of you reading this post― despite this discouraging news― continue the fight, continue to persevere, continue to press on. This is the best we can do in response to this senseless catastrophe.
