BC delays PrEP rollout

september 19, 2017

PrEP is proven to be a highly effective way of preventing new HIV infections. The news that the BC Ministry of Health have not put a date on rolling out public coverage means that the people most likely to be exposed to HIV are unlikely to have access to PrEP.

BC could roll out PrEP coverage to those most at risk of contracting HIV, and combine it with adherence support for effective prevention that also contains costs for the province.

It is disappointing that drug prices appear to be once again dictating policy in regards to treatment access.
