Mark is a person living with HIV, diagnosed in 1988 and then later diagnosed with AIDS in 1994.
He has been actively involved in HIV education; Peer based support services and treatment access and advocacy in his community and province beginning in 1996 and became involved with CTAC in 2002 as the Alberta Council Member.
After these past years as the Alberta Council Member he have managed to bring into the fold a mentee to begin assuming this role in order to put his name forward as a potential Board Member, further expanding his role and opportunity for broader personal and professional growth in the field of HIV treatment access and advocacy.
Mark's community involvement includes the Alberta Community Council on HIV/AIDS (ACCH) where he is chair the HIV Committee and acts as the PHA representative for the ACCH member agency the SHARP Foundation; Volunteer Educational Speaker with AIDS Calgary Awareness Association; Member of the Calgary Coalition on HIV/AIDS (CCHA) and a member and past chair of the HIV Peer Support Group. He has also been involved in the planning and implementation of the Provincial Positive Voice Conference for Albertan’s living with HIV/AIDS. Mark's most current activity is writing for GayCalgary and Edmonton Magazine on health issues from the perspective of a Person Living with HIV/AIDS.
